So one of my challenges, suggested by an old friend back in the UK, was to write a love song for my wife. So here are the lyrics, just completed. I have some ideas for the tune and backing. It’s sounding very Peter Gabriel in my head, hence the cryptic lyrics. Good luck interpreting it!

Go With The Flow

When the heart of a star comes your way
Don’t waste your time on excuses and turning away
Not for a moment, no not for a moment, not one

Ocean of light, nectarine crimson and gold
And a voice cries “Can you hear me at the back of the room?”
Let’s see can we get the joint dancing, can we get the joint dancing?
Pass it on, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on

Through the door, come follow the laughter, the pictures are playing along to the song
The rafters are raised to the rhythm of you, it’s a rock and roll prize of a heart synchronised
Pass it on, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on

A spark of recognition and a voice calls my name
In my condition the delusion of fame rubs my eyes
Wiping away my words but not the spice
And the river flows, river flows, river flows, go with the flow (x2)

When your mouth is a desert and there’s nowhere to go, go with the flow
When a salt shaker memory is making the show, go with the flow
Watch the giggles and the rumbles and the magic and the stumbles
And don’t pigeonhole what the rainbow mumbles, just go with the flow

Though dumb indecision played his usual game
On your volition, the rainbow man came to your side
You shine away, and suddenly the water is wide
And the river flows, river flows, river flows, go with the flow (x2)

When your mouth is a forest and there’s somewhere to go, go with the flow
When the angels are calling and the trumpets blow, go with the flow
Play the giggles and the rumbles and the magic and the stumbles
And don’t pigeonhole what the rainbows mumble, go with the flow

Oh the heart of a star came my way
There are times I regret we can never go back to that day
Oh the moment, oh the moment, is gone

But another one, and another one, and another one all came along (x?)
Every day came along
So pass it on, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on, go with the flow (x?)
